Life Transitions

Difficult or traumatic life events often initiate unwanted change or transition. You may feel the need for support through feelings of grief, anger and/or loneliness. Other life issues that move an individual along the developmental trajectory may include addressing the mind shift needed for managing a career change, or feeling called to be an advocate for social justice in today’s political climate.

Ongoing Stressors

I have experience helping my clients with longstanding problems that continually interfere with living a satisfactory life. Sometimes the issue uncovered is some aspect of one’s history taken for granted yet that created the context for development of protective but maladaptive schemas. If these issues and resulting protective schemas were identified and addressed, the result would be improved contentment with everyday living.

A protective schema may include the inability to make decisions about important things. Residual effects of early trauma or adult trauma as yet unprocessed can generate various subtle or unconscious protective responses. I can help with these by supportive review, exploration and processing of contributing factors. You may also benefit by learning specific skills such as for meditation or communication, helping to improve emotional regulation and ease with your relationships.
